The Initiative
Mexus Education partners with organizations and associations to create sustainable educational practices to effect change and co-create value between educators and learners. One such initiative is its association with Bayer India and creating opportunities for unprivileged children to benefit from hands-on activities to further fundamentals in science.
Making Science Make Sense in association with Bayer India
Making Science Make Sense’ is a CSR initiative of Bayer India. MSMS program is a mix of case studies, live demonstrations, experiments and interactive sessions. Audio – visual tools are used to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the program also covers sessions on ‘Environmental Science’. It serves as an apt arena for students to experiment, experience and explore science. The program is for students in classes 5 & 6, generally the age when students get introduced full-fledged to science.
‘Battle MSMS’- an inter school quiz competition has been an instant hit with students.
Program Objective
Mexus Education is proud to associate with Bayer India in designing the unique content and executing the MSMS program in schools across Mumbai. As a science and research based company with major businesses in health care, nutrition and innovative materials, Bayer has a strong stake in helping to improve the scientific literacy of the society at large.
Milestones
Year 2007:
The maiden program was initiated for classes 5 & 6 in 2007 and saw encouraging participation of over 1000 students in from four leading schools in Mumbai. The rationale behind choosing these two classes was that, it is at this point that the students are introduced to science as a full-fledged subject of study.
Year 2008:
The programme saw greater participation with over 2000 students from classes 5-6 participating in the Science challenge.
Year 2009:
5000 students from 12 schools across India
